Evening Debrief at N12
Doug and Billy debrief Day three (3) at Lakewood, NJ. Doug insists he has backed off from the hands-on coaching style of the first couple of days and sees progress with radio work and flows. Briefing has improved and the use of available tools such as the VSR. But Doug still sees an opportunity to improve the communication particularly with identifying ourselves at the beginning of the transmission. Doug stresses the need to get their attention first, then make your request. Timely advice as Day four (4) offers some busy airspace. Doug reviews the techniques used for losing altitude quickly. He also covers the surprise of getting an LP+V approach at Kill Devil Hills and the need to see if you get vertical navigation confirmation when the final fix becomes the next active waypoint.
