This leg features a great explanation and execution of a missed approach from beginning to end. Doug planned for flying the missed approach procedure at KJZI but ATC gave them an alternate MAP, likely because of a conflict between the way the sectors are drawn and the plan to continue northbound from Charleston. There's a lot going on the radios and Billy gets overwhelmed. We're getting vectors and altitude changes. Fortunately Doug instructed Billy to set up and save a flight plan for the next leg to KEYF so that reduces the workload at a critical time.

Also the flight gives a good look at managing a descent on vectors to final. Doug uses the GNS430 to estimate the descent rate required to make sure we arrive below the glideslope. They fly the feeder fix on the RNAV and get stabilized before the 90º turn to final at ESURE. Doug points out the higher DA minimum required due to both a published NOTAM (Billy catches) AND higher still for relying on the ATIS at KFAY (Billy misses). The flight concludes with Billy slipping in with a nice crosswind landing at Elizabethtown.
