This leg is about dealing with weather enroute. Heavy rain is moving in faster than forecasted. There is a great deal of discussion between Doug and Billy and then with ATC on how to best avoid the worst of it. Ultimately the decision is made by the crew and they request an easterly diversion, as opposed to a westerly course suggested by Approach. Doug does not wait for suggestions from ATC. He analyzes the weather picture early and ultimately makes the call. This is being pilot in command.
