Doug demonstrates a smart taxi technique on the way to runway 13 at KRKD. They're released by Portland Clearance and are soon on their way to Bar Harbor (KBHB). Bangor Approach clears them direct WHAME. Doug inputs KBGR into the flight plan after the hold at KRKD in anticipation of the missed approach and planned diversion to Bangor. Billy executes the missed approach at the DA, contacts Bangor Approach and gets an initial vector to KBGR. By having KBGR already loaded in the flight plan Billy can scroll to it, hit direct-to and then pull up the RNAV Rwy 15. He uses heading mode to fly the initial vectors and then chooses to hand fly the approach to landing. Winds are strong and they prepare for wind shear on short final.
